ISESCO PRIZES IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 2008
Announcement
In order to encourage innovative talent and to reward distinctive works for the solution of scientific and technological problems of socio-economic importance, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization -ISESCO- awards, triennially, Prizes to Muslim scientists and technologists from its Member States who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
ISESCO Prizes are awarded in Basic Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, and Physics) for outstanding research contributions in these fields, and in Technology for important innovation/s. Each ISESCO Prize consists of an award of US$ 5,000 and a certificate on which major contributions of the Prize Winner are mentioned.
The Prizes are presented at a special ceremony.

Nominations are invited from Science Academies, National Research Councils Universities and Scientific and Technological Institutions in ISESCO Member States.
Each Member State can nominate a maximum of two candidates in each field. For Awards in 2008, the deadline is 31st January, 2008.
Nominations received from the Member States is judged by a Selection Committee, comprised of distinguished scientists and technologists, set up by ISESCO for the selection of Prize winners. For awards in 2008, this Committee will meet in the first week of April 2008. It will, therefore, not be possible to entertain nominations received after the deadline. The Prize winners will be informed immediately about the decision.

If no suitable nomination is received in a field, the Prize in that field is not awarded.

The decision of ISESCO regarding the award of Prizes remains final and cannot be challenged.

Candidates for the ISESCO Prizes must be Muslim scientists/technologists, nationals of ISESCO Member States, who are working and living in their own countries.
Nomination should be made on ISESCO Prizes Nomination Form and clearly state the contributions which the nominee has made towards the development of the particular field for which the Prize could be given. The nomination should be accompanied by :
- brief biography including major scientific/technical accomplishments
- copies of 5 recent significant publications
- complete list of publications
- curriculum vitae

Nomination Forms Complete in all respect should research ISESCO, through the National Point of Contact of the Islamic Organization in the concerned country, at the following address latest by 31st January 2008:
